A mandatory internship takes place throughout the fourth year of the BDS degree. Only upon the completion of their competitive internship year will the student receive their BDS degree.
The second year of the course introduces students to pre-clinical laboratories; the first two years of the course are entirely classroom and knowledge-based instruction and training. In years three and four, students receive both academic and clinical instruction. During the first two years of the course, subjects including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, dental materials, dental histology, microbiology, pharmacology, pathology, pre-clinical conservative medicine, and prosthodontics are covered.
The subjects studied in the third year include general surgery, oral pathology, and general medicine. The final year of school offers courses specifically related to dentistry, such as oral medicine radiography, prosthodontics, periodontics, and pedodontics among others. The eligibility criteria for BDS are:
