Dental Colleges in India – Complete List of DCI Recognized Dental Colleges in India
When joining a dental college in India, the students are not aware of how many dental colleges are there in each state of India. So I thought I would list out all the dental colleges in India which the Dental Council of India recognizes.
So I am not listing the dental colleges in any form of ranking. I will be listing all the dental colleges state-wise in alphabetical order.
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a four-year undergraduate program in dentistry that is offered by dental colleges and universities in India. The BDS program covers a wide range of topics in dentistry, including dental anatomy, physiology, oral pathology, dental materials, orthodontics, and oral surgery, among others.
The BDS program is divided into four years and an extra 1-year compulsory internship. The first two years of the program consist of classroom lectures, laboratory work, and clinical training in a dental hospital or clinic. The final two years of the program are mainly clinical, with students getting the opportunity to work with patients under the supervision of experienced dentists.
The BDS program is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the scientific principles underlying dentistry, as well as the practical skills required to diagnose and treat dental problems. In addition to lectures and laboratory work, the BDS program also includes clinical training in a dental hospital or clinic, where students get the opportunity to work with patients under the supervision of experienced dentists.
Upon completion of the BDS program, graduates are eligible to register with the Dental Council of India (DCI) and practice as dentists in India. They can also choose to pursue further studies in dentistry by enrolling in a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) program or a Ph.D. program.
In addition to the clinical skills and knowledge acquired during the BDS program, graduates also develop important communication and interpersonal skills that are essential for working with patients. Dentists must be able to explain treatment options to patients clearly and understandably and must be able to establish trust and rapport with patients, many of whom may be anxious about dental procedures.
